sipping a cup of hot coffee

some silence trickling down
a soar lane with no streetlights
warming, jostling alive, a breath escapes
steam whirs and i hear the sizzle
calm droning from inside the seashells
oysters squirming, a pearl descending
i remember the lady at Starbucks
the student with numbed shoulders
an icecreamy smile and i gulp more silence
don't wanna wake my family up
let them usher further into
blankets while i think about the muse
Zelda and her Save Me the Waltz
silence is good
sometimes

Silence is golden. Most of the time. I am almost tempted to add 'all the time' but in this case, my wife's silence is not approval !

:)

Lovely. As usual.

What lovely images you brought to mind's eye while enjoying a moment of silence. I can so relate, as I like to sit on the sofa, my cat, Tigger, curled up next to me and just soak in the quiet, to let my thoughts drift. Lovely poem.

Silence and hot coffee...enough to inspire introspection and poetry. Lovely post.

Sipping coffee could inspire such beautiful poetry or rather sipping coffee would be so lyrically beautiful, is a revelation to me!!!

Simple day to day acts can sometimes spur the deepest of emotion like it did here!

There's a certain depth to silence that I enjoy very much. Your poem makes me want to sit somewhere quiet and savor the moments before the world starts again...
